Fats, Oils and Grease Program...
What is FOG and Where Does it Go?
FOG stands for fats, oils and grease. We want to keep it out of our sanitary sewer system! In Waco, the sanitary sewer system and the storm drain system are separate from each other. Storm drain system openings are located outside in gutters, alleys and streets. The storm drains empty directly into creeks, which flow to Lake Waco. All material
such as liquid and trash poured or dumped on streets, alleys and gutters, enters the storm drains. This waste travels into creeks and into Lake Waco without being treated.
Using best management practices in restaurant kitchens and your home’s kitchen can help us all reach a common goal... unclogging the FOG! Reducing fats, oils and grease is the right thing to do for the environment!
