Project Timeline

July- August 2006
A press conference was held at the raw water station to provide the public with information on the DAF process, its effectiveness and to report on the schedule of improvements to come. The conference was covered by the Waco Tribune-Herald, two local television channels and WCCC-10.

March 2007
The Texas Commission of Environmental Quality (TCEQ) approved the plan to implement the dissolved air flotation (DAF) at a rate of 12 gallons per minute per square foot, on March 14, 2007. This flow rate is twice the initially approved rate.

This approval means a 25% smaller DAF footprint at buildout and substantial savings initially to achieve the same overall 90 million gallons per day.

There will be 2 basins with an estimated 2,600 square feet. These two basins will be built initially leaving room for a 3rd basin that can be constructed in approximately 25 years, or when our water demand begins to equal capacity.

May- June 2007
Two public meetings held at Waco Convention Center to discuss plans and site for DAF Treatment Plant.

Based on public input the profile of the DAF plant design was lowered, the Administrative building was moved to the South end, and the storage basins were covered to improve the appearance from the Lakeshore Drive residential area.

June- August 2007
Property for DAF Treatment Plant Site acquired (roughly 19 acres).

September- November 2007
DAF site evaluations and design review. The focus is on necessary drainage improvements, security fencing for the plant, and the entrance road.

January 2008
Construction of on entrance road, drainage channel and fencing scheduled to begin.

February 2008
Preliminary DAF plant site design available for public review.

June 2008
Review and evaluation of final plant design by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).

Construction then scheduled to begin pending TCEQ approval of plant design.

July 2008
Advertise for construction of plant.

August-October 2010
Construction scheduled to be complete.
